Norwich has one of the best independent brunch scenes of any UK city its size. Forget the chains โ€” the Lanes and beyond are packed with brilliant small spots serving creative, seasonal food with proper coffee. Here's where to go.

Best Overall: Chia Norwich

๐Ÿฅ—
New Opening ยท Plant-Forward

Chia Norwich, Norwich Lanes

The city's most beautiful new brunch spot. Opened in the former Soyokaze restaurant space in the Lanes, Chia is fresh, colourful and completely on its own terms. The chia bowl topped with fruit, almond butter, tahini, nuts and honey is genuinely outstanding โ€” the kind of thing you think about afterwards. The house smoothie (banana, spinach, almond butter, ginger, turmeric, honey, oat milk) is a hug in a glass.

We also loved the veggie sandwich โ€” red pesto, feta, mozzarella and spinach on sourdough โ€” and the avocado egg toast, which is simple but done perfectly. The pistachio basque cheesecake is a straight 10/10. Don't leave without it.

Best Bakery Brunch: Loaf Micro Bakery

๐Ÿฅ
Award-Winning Bakery

Loaf Micro Bakery, 15 Dove Street

An award-winning, female-led micro bakery that recently moved to Dove Street to bring the shop and bakehouse under one roof. Everything here is made with obsessive care โ€” their sourdough loaves are crafted over three days, their pastries are plant-forward and imaginative, and the single-origin coffee is exceptional. The chocolate and pistachio knot and cinnamon bun (so soft it barely made it to the table) are must-orders.

Best Coffee: OP Coffee Co.

โ˜•
Speciality Coffee

OP Coffee Co., Norwich City Centre

Oliver Peters Coffee Co. โ€” named after a Norfolk WW2 veteran โ€” serves some of the finest single-origin coffee in the city. Small-batch roasted beans from Colombia and Brazil, brewed with care. Their collaboration with Swirl Norwich produced a tiramisu bun made with their signature coffee that is genuinely one of the best things we've eaten all year.

Also Worth Knowing

Bread Source on St Giles Street is a Norwich institution โ€” towering iced cinnamon buns, flaky pastries and brilliant sourdough. Always busy for good reason.

Figbar remains a city favourite for all-day brunch โ€” expect a queue on weekends, but it moves quickly and the food is worth it.

Frank's Bar & Bakery on Exchange Street has a warm, independent atmosphere and great coffee โ€” perfect for a slower morning.

โฐ Timing tip: For the Lanes spots, aim for 9-10am on weekdays for the calmest experience. Weekend brunching gets busy from 10am onwards โ€” arrive early or expect to queue.

The Verdict

Norwich's brunch scene is genuinely world class for a city its size. The independents here care deeply about what they serve โ€” you'll rarely have a bad brunch if you stick to the spots on this list.
